A new electricity connection starts on the ENC portal, the online Electricity New Connection system used across the DISCOs. You apply with a neighbour's reference number to fix the location, upload ownership and identity documents, then pay a demand notice at the bank. Most connections complete in about four to six weeks. This guide covers the application, the documents, the demand notice, and the meter installation.
What you need
- A neighbour's 14-digit reference number to identify the area and feeder.
- Attested CNIC copy of the applicant.
- Proof of ownership or tenancy of the premises.
- A wiring test report from an authorised electric inspector or wiring contractor.
Step-by-step
- 1
Apply on the ENC portal
Open the ENC website, click Apply, choose your distribution company, and enter a neighbour's 14-digit reference number to set the location. Select your category, such as domestic, and the connection type.
- 2
Enter your details and submit
Fill in your name, father's name, CNIC number, address and mobile number. Submit the application and save the tracking ID it gives you.
- 3
Upload the required documents
Attach the attested CNIC, the ownership or tenancy proof, a copy of a neighbour's bill, and the wiring test report from the electric inspector.
- 4
Receive and pay the demand notice
After verification you get a demand notice. Print it from the portal using your tracking ID, pay the fee at the designated bank, and upload the paid notice.
- 5
Get the meter installed
Once the paid demand notice clears, the DISCO installs the meter and activates supply. The first bill follows in the next cycle.

Tips & things to watch
- Keep the tracking ID from your application. You need it to print the demand notice and check status.
- Get the wiring test report ready early. A missing report is the most common cause of delay.
- Use a neighbour's reference number only to fix the location. Your own connection bills separately.
